It will be awarded for the first time on 9 July 2023 as part of the Open Recorder Days Amsterdam.
The jury will award the Adriana Breukink Prize to a soloist in category A who presents a particularly original and innovative programme - in the visionary spirit of the late recorder maker Adriana Breukink.
In category A, only amateur musicians play solo recorder, with or without accompaniment. Two accompanists are only permitted in this category for the performance of basso continuo.
Category A includes the following age groups:
- 11 years old or younger
- 12 - 16 years old
- 17 - 29 years old
- 30 years old and alto
Programme requirements
- Participants in age category 1 (11 years or younger) must submit a programme of at least 7 and no more than 10 minutes.
The programme is valid for the preliminary round and, if applicable, the final round. - Participants in age categories 2, 3 and 4 must submit two programmes with a minimum playing time of 7 minutes and a maximum playing time of 10 minutes.
One programme is for the preliminary round and the other is for the final round.
Participants in these categories may repeat a maximum of 4 minutes of music in the programme for the final round.
The Adriana Breukink Prize this year is an Eagle Ganassi alto (treble) recorder with a special airbrush design.
